The Friday night before the photoshoot the rain came pouring down and had me wondering if we would be find places to stand if or when the rain decided to stop. The rain finally did relent and left us with really nice weather, not to warm and with a few billowy clouds in the sky to add some variety.

Danielle Blanchard is one of those people who finds that something in everything to get excited about, show her a great wedding dress, in fact any awesome dress and you will have to fight her off or at the least try contain the unbounded enthusiasm. No matter what we did or what pose I asked her to attempt, she would not only do it, she did it with a little something that just made it better, and this made me a very happy photographer.

The Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden just outside Johannesburg is a truly beautiful venue for spending a few hours relaxing, and as a photography venue, with so much to offer when it comes to variety and interesting backgrounds. So between Danielle and the Botanical Garden , with the job of photographer I felt like I was let off easy.

Meet Andrew Rowland and Samantha Scheepers, two interesting people who are Tumanako “Paediatric Equine Therapy”. These two individuals came together and work to help children with disabilities with the help of Spice. Spice is a very special horse, she is so very careful with each patient and eternally patient except when it comes to carrots. Now how could I not be humbled but these three, and to make it worse they a really great bunch, easy to get along with and always ready and willing to help.

However Spice can be quite demanding when it comes to carrots I am told. So when I had the chance to do the portfolio photos for them I said yes, it wasn’t a question it simply a statement of fact.

Sometimes baby does not want to be photographed, and in this case Aurora simply wanted time with Mom and Dad. The fuss in front of the camera meant little to the 3 week old, who simply was not interested. As the baby photographer I had my work cut out so with gentle coaxing, quick timing and with a little luck we were able to capture some terrific photos.

I found myself leaning towards the black and white photos this time and I think it was a good choice, although not every baby photo ended up being black and white. I think the tender moments show through with black and white, and are so much more apparent – not to forget the fun moments of course.

I will say from the beginning that Megan and Lee are a terrific couple and some of the nicest people you could possibly ever hope to meet. That said, by the time the Wedding day arrived I was pretty eager to get started photographing there wedding day, with beautiful sunny skies and temperatures that were just right for the day. This couple made everything such a pleasure to do for them, and were so relaxed and easy going in front of the camera that they made my job as the wedding photographer, well, easy. A nod to Jacques Ford my second for the day, he made sure a shot was never missed.

A really special baby!  Aurora was a whole 3 1/2 weeks old when these photos were taken and as a professional photographer it is always interesting and an opportunity to learn. Baby had her own ideas about how things would be done, and who was I as the baby photographer to argue with this special client. Here are a few preview photos.

What a great couple, so friendly and considerate, I really enjoyed being the wedding photographer for such a fun and obviously in love couple. They were a pleasure to be near and made the whole days wedding photography so easy. Here is a little taste of things to come and they will only get better.
