Anja and Edward’s Wedding was at the Cape Town Castle of Good Hope which is a truly unique and tremendous venue, surrounded by history. I was honoured to be part of their great day. The weather, typical for January in the Cape, was hot and dry, but this couple made everyone forget for a little while just how hot it was, and enjoyed the moment with them.
South Africa’s Cape Town must be one of the best places to get married and have your Wedding Photographed, with so much to choose from close by, and so many idea’s, places and venues.
The amazing botanical gardens are a sure hit for a pre or post wedding picnic, where friends and family can get together away from the formality of the wedding and be with the couple, allowing the couple some time to mingle, and be with everyone they may be too rushed to visit on the wedding day. The Botanical gardens is always a great place for the professional and Wedding Photographer alike, with so many different and clever places to photograph.
With all the fine wine farms in the vicinity the couple has no shortages of places to go for a romantic day together, sipping the fine flavour of the grape, in an environment filled with that authentic old style culture and history. It has become quite common that now certain wine farms are not only open to the public for wine tasting but also open for lunch and even as a venue for hire, which can be a tremendous experience and a photo heaven for the Wedding photographer. I would be hard pushed to think of a better way to spend my day than to sit down with fine wine, excellent farm style fair and the company of my beautiful partner.
I have not yet mentioned the beaches – the fair Cape has its share of beaches and they range from crisp white sandy beaches to the colourful pebble beaches, perfect for the Professional Photographer and couples alike. Either would be great for the sun downer’s walk on the sands,as the sea rolls to the beach and crashes on the ancient rocks. If you are a little more adventurous, perhaps step amongst the rock pools and see what the tide has brought in, from the timeless star fish to the most colourful crabs or maybe something a little more interesting, these are what add the to those memories that as a Photographer I endevour to capture when I can.
As a Professional Wedding Photographer I am not forgetting my camera, since as I write this my mind’s eye has the camera clearly focused on each one of these stops in the journey. Each place I mention has countless photographic possibilities for you and your camera capturing that quick snapshot, or as a photographer capturing the once in a lifetime moment.
I am not forgetting the colourful city life that is Cape Town – from its fabulous and excellent restaurants to its friendly citizens, these are part of the package that is the Cape and Cape Town, a colourful and eclectic space that allows you and your photographer to really find interesting and urban photos. With beautiful nights and long hazy days the Cape is a destination to think about, and even if it’s not for your wedding, there are always anniversaries to be celebrated or perhaps just some time together away from the humdrum of everyday life.
